Mother & Son South Bay Real Estate Agents

Hady Chahine - South Bay Real Estate Agent

'Real estate is what I do for a living. This is my passion and I am very good at it. I am in it for life.' - Hady Chahine.

As a Manhattan Beach native I grew up in a much different city than it is today. As a child I remember how most of the houses were either beach bungalows or cottages. Ice plant and ivy was the official landscape for Manhattan Beach. It was everywhere! The official paint color for Manhattan Beach was a rust brown color

I have many fond memories growing up in this town. Back in the day, most families drove VW buses, wagons, or vans. The town was small. Pretty much everybody in the community knew one another and the children all played in the street. Land was readily available and we would sometimes play in empty lots. Traffic was non-existent. The Beach Cities were a very well kept secret at that time. Growing up as a child we pretty much had it all to ourselves! It was a great place to grow up!.

My interest in real estate began shortly before my mother got her real estate license. With Mom working 3 jobs to provide for us, I could not bare to ask her for an allowance. Instead I actually walked into our Shorewood Realtors A-Frame office located on Manhattan Beach Blvd, introduced myself to a couple of agents and offered to pass out fliers for them. Two of the agents accepted and I earned money by hanging fliers on doors in particular farm areas between Manhattan and Hermosa Beach. Over time I found myself looking at a lot of different houses and their styles. I met quite a few people and spoke with them as I handed them the door hangers. Although I had no idea about real estate at that time, I really enjoyed just talking to people and exchanging smiles. During this time one particular agent by the name of John Murray left a huge impression on me. His sincerity, demeanor and caring touched me in a way that I could not explain. A couple of times I saw John speak to clients over the phone. He was not a fast talking salesman. John was a professional in every way. John was kind, genuine, and generous. From that point on I knew real estate was were my future lay. I thank John for that every day.

In 1988 my mother, Hassana Chahine, earned her real estate license. Splitting time between real estate and her full time job, my mother worked early in the morning until late at night, including weekends and holidays. All of her hard work finally payed off and my mother was able to quit her full time job and just focus on real estate. The hard work and long hours continued but now it was focused 100% on real estate. I learned so much from watching my mother in action.

Hassana always practiced real estate with honesty, integrity and accountability. She worked hard for her clients and previewed properties daily for them whether she was under the weather or not. Rain or shine, Hassana was out there working hard and giving daily updates to her clients. Being her youngest child, I spent quite a bit of time watching her and learning. I enjoyed going with her to preview properties and I enjoyed helping her with the marketing. I shared the excitement and joy that Hassana had when she either negotiated an offer for her clients or was able to sell one of her listings. I really learned so much from her over the 11 years that she practiced real estate alone. She was a great mentor not just from a business perspective but from a personal one as well.

In January of 2001 I began working for Shorewood Realtors. I feel that growing up in Manhattan Beach has given me an advantage over other agents. For starters I know the South Bay extremely well. I know the schools and the areas better than most. Most importantly I was raised on real estate. I know what accountability, hard work, commitment, and integrity are from my mother. I tasted it everyday from watching her work as an agent since I was 15 years old.

Real estate is what provided for our family. It helped put my brother and I through college. It is what kept us in Manhattan Beach. I will never forget that. From day one, I teamed up with my mother and the rest is history. “Mother & Son, Getting the Job Done” was our motto and we have been making it come true ever since. Over the years we have represented buyers and sellers from Sherman Oaks to Oceanside, including all stops in-between.

The beauty of this industry is that no two days are really ever alike. Many of our clients have diverse needs. Some are looking to trade their income properties while others are looking to upsize from a smaller home to a larger one. We have had the privilege of representing first time home buyers as well as seasoned income property investors. From newlyweds to those going through the difficult process of divorce we have experienced the range of emotions that buyers and sellers face. The one constant is we have succeeded in helping our clients make the best choices no matter what the circumstances.

To me, being a realtor carries an enormous amount of responsibility. The experience of buying and selling is both complicated and emotional. So much is at stake. Some clients are counting on us to sell their investment at the best price possible. Others are entrusting us to find them a home that their family can grow into. There is so much to think about that can get overlooked if you aren’t working with a professional. My clients are counting on my mother and I to perform for them and I make a solemn promise to each of you that is exactly what we will do.
