"Selling real estate has brought our close family unit even closer."
Hassana Chahine - RE/MAX Execs

I have been a Beach Cities resident for over 40 years. In 1967 I arrived in the United States and settled down in the Beach Cities. My husband and I purchased our first house in Manhattan Beach (1813 Pine Avenue) in 1970. Raising my two sons alone after my husband's death at the young age of 49 was not easy but it eventually led me to my career in real estate.

The prospect of becoming a realtor had always been a long term goal for me. In 1988 as a Mother’s Day present, my oldest son, Nader (at that time he was 19 years old) enrolled me in real estate school and purchased all of my books for me. At the time I was working two jobs and taking care of both Nader and Hady (Hady was my youngest son who at the time was 15 years old). I dreaded the thought of having to go to real estate school for several months and study late nights. I always put my children first and already hated having to be away from them most of the day. My priority was taking care of my boys and working long hours to provide for them was my reality.

However, on that very special Mother's Day my boys insisted that I start class the very next week and get my license. We all knew that it would be a challenging few months, but we worked through it together as a family. Several months later I earned my license and working very hard (over the course of a couple years) eventually quit both of my jobs becoming a full time realtor!

I have now been a realtor selling homes in the South Bay Beach Cities for 21 years! As a single mother nothing ever came easy. Being the sole breadwinner was tough. Raising two boys alone was equally as tough! I entered the real estate market during the Savings and Loan crisis and at the same time the South Bay incurred massive defense layoffs. Those were some really disheartening times but we got through them and emerged stronger than ever.

I have ridden the wave of every phase in our market to this day. From the S & L Crisis of the late 80’s through the triple punch the South Bay experienced in the early 90’s (the triple punch being the Northridge Earthquake, Los Angeles Riots, and defense layoffs) to the meteoric rise in valuations and home sales the past ten years, I have seen it all first hand.

I am blessed to be a part of this business and community for many reasons. Not only has being a realtor allowed me to make some wonderful life-long friendships, it has enabled me to help put both of my boy’s through college (UC Irvine for Nader, & the University of Utah for Hady).

Selling real estate has also brought our close family unit even closer. My oldest son Nader is the lender in the family. He works for Cornerstone Home Lending (located in Manhattan Beach). As for my younger son, Hady……..he is my real estate partner! Our motto is, "Mother & Son, Getting the Job Done!
